Rwanda Advances a 200 MW Floating Solar Project With 800 MWh of Battery Storage

On 22 October, Rwanda’s energy-sector procurement process for a proposed floating solar plant at Lake Sake included an addendum extending the prequalification submission deadline to 26 November. The planned project comprises 200 MW of solar generation and 800 MWh of battery storage, but its total construction price has not been disclosed. The tender’s financial qualification requirements include access to at least US$60 million in financial resources and a US$60 million credit line; these are bidder requirements, not the project cost. Energy developers, battery suppliers and infrastructure firms can explore participation opportunities, while HPC can support project analytics and energy-data systems; contact HPC to discuss relevant services and request a quotation.
